Jermelody Collins, School Counselor~Adocate for Social-Emotion Growth
I’m Jermelody Collins, an elementary school counselor at Grannemann Elementary in the Hazelwood School District. With over 15 years in education and a Master’s degree in School Counseling and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, I’ve dedicated my career to creating safe, inclusive spaces where every student feels seen, heard, and supported.
Social-emotional learning is at the heart of everything I do. I believe that helping students understand and manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible choices is just as important as academic success. Whether I’m leading an SEL lesson, checking in one-on-one, or partnering with families and teachers, I aim to help students develop the skills they need to thrive—both in school and in life.
I strive to be a calm and consistent presence, someone students and families can trust. My proudest moments aren’t found in awards or titles, but in the small, meaningful breakthroughs: a student learning to express their feelings, a classroom becoming a community, or a student discovering their own inner strength.
I want my legacy to be one of love, growth, and healing. I hope to be remembered as a counselor who helped young people believe in themselves, who made them feel safe, and who inspired them to conquer the world with confidence, kindness, and courage.
